The work I am most well known for is my exploded shed. It’s called Cold Dark Matter which I made in 1991. I asked the British Army to blow up a garden shed for me. This was a part of a still-ongoing series of violent acts that I put my found objects through. I just felt that the explosion was something that was not dealt with that much in art.

Cornelia Parker, OBE, is known for her transformation of everyday objects in unexpected and often violent ways: exploding, shot, rearranged and reordered to surprise the viewer. This print is part of the series “Glass Shadows”, Parker’s most recent experiment in photography and printmaking.

Parker is represented in the collections of major institutions including Tate, London, British Council, London, Centre Pomidou, Paris, Fundacio La Caixa, Barcelona, MoMA, New York and Yale Center for British Art, Connecticut.

Recent solo exhibitions include the Serpentine Galleries, MoMA, MoMA PS1, Tate Britain, Whitechapel Gallery, the Met Roof Garden Commission and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Most recently, Parker was the subject of a major survey at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Australia.
